Unsafe Premises

Owners and occupiers of property are responsible to keep property in a safe condition. Often, large corporations, in a rush to increase profits, eliminate routine preventative maintenance and inspections that are necessary to keep their stores safe. As a result, thousands of people are injured every year from defective conditions that could have easily been avoided.
Corporations and stores are also required to accommodate individuals who are disabled and to make their premises accessible to those who are disabled.
There are many conditions that can create unsafe conditions including falling hazards from overhead shelves, slipping and tripping hazards, and unsafe electrical or gas utility hazards. Owners and occupiers must inspect their properties to make sure they are reasonably safe. If they don’t and someone gets injured as a result of their failures, the owner or occupier of the land is responsible for those injuries.
